Business TN magazine originally published a Fast 50 list but expanded and revamped the original list to include the top Hot 100 companies in Tennessee. Eligible companies are required to be Tennessee-based, employee at least five people and have revenues in excess of $750,000.00. Additional criteria for the new list include employee growth, growth over a period of years and growth as compared to industry average.

According to Business TN magazine, “The Hot100 also inescapably involves increased editorial judgment. BusinessTN’s staff chose 33% of the companies on this list based on knowledge of the company’s success and references from knowledgeable sources about area companies performing well.“ Additionally the editors determined to differentiate between the kinds of success for each company on the list.
